Work Permits for Minors
Work Permits are required for paid employment for all students under the age of 18. Use this link for Work Permits applications. Please see the California Department of Education more information on Work Permits for Minors.
WORK PERMIT INFORMATION!
You may download the Work Permit Application above. Work Permits are job specific! You cannot get a Work Permit until you are hired to work. Please allow 24-48 hours for processing.
Please follow these instructions for the quickest results:
Download and print the form. (You can even type your information once you have downloaded the form.)
Fill in the top portion completely and legibly.
Have a parent sign it.
Take the Work Permit Application with you when you interview for jobs.
Have your new employer complete the middle section.
Make sure it is legible!
Bring the completed form to the CCC for processing.
Missing or illegible information will delay the process!
Work permits issued last school year or over the summer have now expired and new forms must be submitted.
Please turn in completed forms to the reception desk and allow 24 - 48 hours for processing and approval from the Dean of Attendance.

WORK PERMIT GUIDELINES
Per CVUSD School Board Policy 5113.2, students issued work permits for the school year must adhere to the following guidelines:
GRADE POINT AVERAGE
Students must have a grade point average of at least 2.0 for the prior grading period.
Students must be attending school regularly and be on time at least 90% of the time.
Per State and Federal law student work hours are to be:
Students 14 & 15 years of age
Students may work 18 hours per week when school is in session. Additional restrictions will be printed on the student's work permit.
Students 16 & 17 years of age
Students may work 40 hours per week when school is in session. Additional restrictions will be printed on the student's work permit.
· Vacation work hours will be indicated on the Work Permit.
Student’s attendance and grades will be monitored. Work Permit will be revoked and the employer contacted if a student does not maintain satisfactory grades and attendance.
